| In less than a year I have had to return the LS86 to panasonic for replacement. About every 3 months it stops reading discs. I am now on my third player. Nice unit..reliability is terrible. |

| We bought this DVD player for the car after trying three other players. We have owned this one for 3 years and it has been WONDERFUL! The other players did not work consistently when mounted to the headrest. This one always plays upright and has a great attachment for the car. We just decided to purchase two more of them for our newest family additions that are now ready for DVD players! |
Perfect for use on TV-less treadmill

| I selected the Panasonic DVD-LS86 8.5-Inch Portable DVD Player specifically for use on my treadmill. It has been perfect for this application. It is light weight, has an adjustable screen and long battery life, coupled with good picture quality and sound. It provides just the incentive I need to do my daily treadmill mileage. I use a low-frequency sound blocking headset with the DVD player. |

| This DVD Playah is awesome our kid dropped this thing at least 100x and it only broke cause Mom stepped on it ;) thats why im buyin another and we got an extra battery now, not that we need it. Lasted the last 3 years and the last 2 of dropping it. AWWWWWWWWWHITE!!!! daGECKO |
Good Overall Player But Users with Kids Take Note...

I ended up buying this player specifically because it had divx / mp4 compatibility which I wanted since I mostly use digital video files rather than dvd disks.
The main downside I have found with this player is that when my daughter uses it in the car she constantly accidentally hits the control buttons which stop or skip the video forward. Because of the placement of the buttons it is VERY easy for kids to accidentally hit a button.
We just got back from a road trip and this was a major pain. To add to that when you are playing video files (divx/mp4) from a DVD disk there is no chapters so when you press the skip it jumps to the next movie and there is no way to go back to where you were. One one 2 hour period my daughter probably watched parts of 6 movies because of this. I did discover that you can fast forward by pressing and holding the skip button, but it's still a time consuming affair.
I now have to figure out some type of "button protector" to prevent this for future trips.
If you don't need divx/mp4 functionality I would suggest going with another player like one of the sony dvd players which has higher quality video and might not have this same button issue. |
